The study programme International Retail Management is an undergraduate Bachelor programme, which includes internships in cooperation with international retail companies, like Media-Saturn. Professors with retail expertise and a successful career in international retail organisations provide theoretical foundation coupled with up-to-date retail industry insights. This study programme is in English and requires at least 32 weeks internships, 8 out of 32 in a foreign country. This programme prepares students for a career in a corporate office of reputed retailers or to enroll in master`s programme. Our students work in multinational teams on several international retail projects.
During the first section the students are trained in the principles of retail management ranging from logistics to marketing, also in the principles of economics with retail-specific characteristics. The language education is covered by one elective foreign language, as for example German, Spanish or Chinese. In the second section of the programme, the students develop their knowledge in retailing, elaborating special skills for managing a retail business. The compulsory internship in retail companies is scheduled for the 6th semester. With completion of the Bachelor’ thesis, the academic degree Bachelor of Arts is awarded, which enables students for either a qualified job entry in the retail industry or a post-graduate master programme.

Why did you chose International Retail Management?
“ I chose this study program because I already had experience with Media-Saturn due to my 4 years of working in a store. These studies give me the opportunity to learn more about the company and to evolve. There are many things I like about the programme, but the two main points are the experience of our teachers and also how the Media-Saturn takes care of us.”

Why did you chose International Retail Management?
„For my future career I have chosen retail company Media-Saturn which has branch in Russia. Media-Saturn is one of the most attractive employers in Germany and they invest in education of the employees – that’s why they chose to create IRM programme in cooperation with the University for Applied Sciences Ingolstadt. And it definitely has comparative advantages. The University for Applied Sciences Ingolstadt is one of the leading technical schools in Germany and the reputation attracts high qualified international professors. In addition to that, it has a high level of computerization for students’ convenience (computer classes, library, canteen, etc.). It also ensures qualified personnel supporting students in various aspects, so that all in all, students have a great student’s life. About this study programme, I definitely like the great future perspectives with Media-Saturn and that the study programme is strongly retail oriented, which gives students the opportunity to acquire necessary knowledge to be able to work with a retail company in future.
A sophisticated mix of theoretical basics, specified knowledge of international retailing, retail management tools, case analysis and best practice will enable students to manage the international retail business. The excellence of the programme will be rounded by internship and global internships. A very close interlocking of scientific education and practical programmes managed by international retail corporations enforces the practical approach and the core competences of the programme. A wide range of specialized language training develops the students` language skills and intercultural competence for effective international retail management.
