2. Who can do an internship in Germany?
If you mach the following criteria you may apply for the internship programme at Ingolstadt University:
3. Do I need to speak German?
Yes, you need to have at least basic German language skills. Your home University may be able to help you acquire these German language skills previous to you application.
4. How long do internships take?
Internships in Germany usually are of a minimum length of 3 months and may take up to 12 months.
5. Can I start my internship anytime or are there fixed timeframes?
The starting times of your internship need to match with our enrolment times. Accordingly you may start your internship mid-September in winter term and beginning of March in summer semester.
6. What are the application deadlines?
The application times are 02.05.-15.06. for winter term and 15.11.-15.01. for summer term.
7. When do I have to start the process if I want to do an internship in Germany?
Depending on your German skills you may need to start the process about a year before the desired start of your internship. Ingolstadt University helps you find an internship and provides several resources for finding internships. However, you will NOT be placed in an internship but have to actively look for internship opportunities. Ingolstadt University will assist you doing so by various means. 11. How do I find an internship?
Depending on whether you are already here in Ingolstadt or still in your home country you have various means at your disposal.Students who are already on site may access the internship database in order to find companies and internship offers. In addition workshops on “How to Find an Internship” and on “How to Apply for an Internship” are offered each semester.Students still in their home country find information material and links regarding online internship research in the Factsheet How to Find an Internship in Germany and in the section containing information material.If there is a career service at your home university they may also be able to provide you with contacts of companies that maintain sites both in Germany and your home country.

13. I already have an internship opportunity in a German company. Can I still take part in the internship programme at Ingolstadt University?
Yes. If you already have an internship offer we are happy to admit you to our internship programme provided that the starting times required by Ingolstadt University are met. Regarding the application procedure please contact Lilli Hantke via lilli.hantke@haw-ingolstadt and provide the name of company, contact person and previously arranged details regarding the internship. 14. Can I also do an internship in other areas of Germany?
Ingolstadt University maintains relations mainly to companies in the area of Ingolstadt and the Greater Munich Area. In case you have an offer from a company outside this area we will happily include you in the internship programme but please be aware that some of the support offered such as help with finding accommodation and participation in the orientation week and seminars offered is only available to students on site or in the vicinity of Ingolstadt.
15. Do I have to pay fees to take part in the internship programme?
Tuition fees do not apply for students from partner universities doing an internship in Germany. Merely 42 € administrational fee are to be paid by enrolment at Ingolstadt University.
16. Are grades important in the internship programme?
Grades are not taken into consideration in the application process to the internship programme at Ingolstadt University. However, please be aware that grades will most probably influence your applications for internships at companies.
17. Do I get some sort of certificate after having completed my internship?
Yes, it is part of German law that interns receive a “Praktikumszeugnis” (letter of reference including an evaluation of the performance during the internship) from their employer after having completed the internship.
