Programme Objectives:

One of the major challenges of the future will be to ensure an environmentally friendly, sustainable and secure energy supply. Renewable energies are already nowadays a spectacularly growing industry with an enormous development potential in the regional, national and international context.

The Bachelor’s programme “Renewable Energy Technologies” provides you with the latest developments and research issues in the field of energy supply with renewable energies. The main field of study is the technical product development in terms of energy technology and engineering with a focus on solar energy technology or bioenergy technology. At the same time you will be acquainted with other areas of application like wind and geothermal energy.

Programme Overview:

The regular period of study consists of seven semesters. The programme is divided into two modules. The introductory module covers four theoretical semesters. It includes lectures and practical courses in energy technologies like energy economics and renewable energies; energy conversion in power engines and machines; energy distribution, grid connection and energy storage. The second module includes two theoretical semesters and a practical semester. At the beginning of the sixth semester students will choose one field of study with a focus on Solar Energy Technology or Bioenergy Technology.

General subjects like Rhetoric and Moderation Techniques will complete the technical course offer.

The degree “Bachelor of Engineering” in the special field of Renewable Energy Technologies is your national and international qualification proof for a well-founded analysis of technical and scientific issues regarding renewable energy components and systems.

Our graduates will be best qualified for working in the fields of development and construction, experimental technology, technical sales and distribution, product and quality management in multinational or regional medium-sized companies.

Dual Study

The degree programme „Renewable Energy Technologies“ provides all students with the opportunity to complete an immerged internship during their studies in addition to the compulsory internship semester. The pre-study internship in a company offers already a good entry opportunity. The entire period of study alternates between theory (regular semesters) and practice (semester breaks, internship semester).

Internationality

You will complete your first qualification degree (“Bachelor of Engineering”) after only seven semesters of study. As a graduate you will have the opportunity to enhance advanced knowledge by subsequently applying for a Master’s degree programme offered by our university in cooperation with De Montfort University (Leicester/GB). The Master‘s degree will qualify you for a doctoral programme. Spending an exchange semester at one of our partner universities in Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia will help you organize your studies in an international way.
