Programme Objectives:

The Bachelor's course of studies in mechatronics conveys practice-oriented training as a mechatronics engineer (Bachelor of Engineering) based on scientific insights and methods from mathematics, physics, mechanics, electrical engineering and programming. Graduates of this course of studies are able to design complex mechatronics solutions, to analyse them with model formation and simulation methods and to implement them as components or entire systems.

The standard period of study is seven semesters. The course of studies is structured in two sections. The first section comprises two theoretical semesters in which basics are conveyed. The second section comprises four theoretical semesters and one practical semester. One of the four theoretical semesters is the focus semester. There are two focus/pracice combinations available:

  • 5th semester practical semester, 6th semester vehicle mechatronics or
  • 5th semester production mechatronics, 6th semester practical semester

The course of studies is structured in modules that comprise one or several subjects each. Examinations in the subjects take place at the end of a semester. For any passed modules, performance credits (Leistungspunkte; LP) are credited. Performance credits may also be gained at foreign partner universities.

Programme Overview:

The curriculum of the bachelors' course of studies in mechatronics is presented in the following tables of the lecturing and exam regulations 2011 (SWS: hours per week during semester, LP: performance credits):
