Programme Objectives:

Be a Vocational Education Teacher!

Ingolstadt University offers in cooperation with Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt a common, integrated degree program, which is singular among Bavarian universities. Graduates acquire, besides the two degrees – Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Education –, the qualification as a “Vocational Education Teacher“.

The modular Bachelor’s program consists of the Bachelor’s course “Mechanical Engineering” at Ingolstadt University complemented by a second field of study and didactic-educational components of programs offered by Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.

The modular structure of the Master’s program in cooperation with Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt is related to the second field of study, its teaching methodology and educational components. Furthermore, the Master’s program includes a range of technical disciplines that ensure the interdisciplinary character of teaching and prepare the graduates for teaching at vocational schools.

The main objective of the Bachelor’s program “Vocational Education Teacher for Mechanical Engineering” is to qualify graduates with a “Master of Arts in Education” for working as “vocational education teachers”. But graduates may work in other professional areas as well, e.g. adult education or technical journalism. Due to a solid basic education, they can also work as mechanical engineers.

With respect to the diversity and complexity of Mechanical Engineering, a comprehensive education in basic subjects will familiarize students with various areas of application and determine them to focus on a single area. The program will provide students with advanced knowledge in education sciences, professional didactics and ergonomics. Furthermore, they enhance a wide range of social and methodical skills. The internationality of the program enables students to face increasing challenges and standards of global markets.

Programme Overview:

After seven semesters students receive an applied and qualifying degree based on scientific research.
The regular period of study consists of seven semesters. It includes a practical semester and a final Bachelor´s thesis based on scientific methods.
