Business engineers work at the crossroads of technology and business. They provide sound knowledge in engineering and competencies in business management. Furthermore, they are capable to look on internal processes in general and develop technical solutions according to common purposes.
The degree program “Engineering and Business” provides academic knowledge in the fields of Engineering and Business Administration. Students enhance sound knowledge in design and construction, computer science, electronic and electrical engineering, material technology, process and climate engineering, cost and investment management, marketing, law, taxes and HR management. Engineering theory will be applied in the modern, well equipped laboratories of our university. Social skills will be trained in small teams. Foreign language courses and other elective subjects prepare students for professional activities on the global market.
The regular period of study consists of seven semesters. The program requires good knowledge of Mathematics and Physics. It is divided into two modules. The introductory module covers two theoretical semesters. The second module includes four theoretical semesters and a practical semester. At the beginning of the sixth semester students will have to choose one field of study from the following list: Production and Logistics; Product Management; Automotive Engineering.
Practical courses in laboratories of material technology, physics, data processing, production technology or working with engine test rigs are important components of the program. The applied approach is supported by project studies that enable students to work under guidance of professors and together with companies on current operational problems. Students learn in this way to apply their theoretical knowledge to a complex professional environment while meeting at the same time possible future employers.

Ingolstadt University offers dual study programs in which students are employed under contract in industry within the so-called “joint model” or they complete an internship as beneficiaries of a scholarship program alongside their regular studies.
Students may therefore combine their studies with a vocational training as a / an:
The vocational model will include a three-month practical training before the beginning of studies. Practical experience will be acquired during practical semesters and, to some extent, semester breaks. The final examination will take place during the regular period of study.
The program consists of 7 semesters and is completed by the degree “Bachelor of Engineering”.
If you are interested in our dual program, please contact the Office of Student Affairs of Ingolstadt University and our partner institutions for the vocational training:
Students acquire their first qualification degree (“Bachelor of Engineering”) after 7 semesters of study. Graduates can apply for a Master’s degree at our university and enhance advanced knowledge in the fields of Automotive Engineering or Technical Development for Automotive and Mechanical Engineering. The Master‘s degree is the required qualification for a doctoral program.
Spending an exchange semester at one of the partner universities of the Ingolstadt University in Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia enables our students to organize their studies in an international way.
