Financial Management


In the major financial management, the students get to know the analysis of financial instruments and the accordant capital markets. Moreover, basic macroeconomic connections for estimating financial markets are conveyed. The students deepen their understanding of the most important methods and instruments used for measuring and controlling the return chances and risks of financial instruments.

The lectures are structured in three mandatory modules with four semester hours each and two mandatory electives.

Occupational Image and Chances on the Job Market

Potential job roles for graduates can be found in banks and financial departments of medium-sized companies as well as large enterprises. With an adequate amount of work experience, it is an opportunity to engage in a free-lance employment as a consultant or in the finance and investment advisory sector.

The strong focus on veritably relevant instruments and methods of financial management effectuates very good job entry chances for qualified applicants. The high demand for qualified graduates in this sector is still unaltered.

Module F3: Management with Financial Products

  • Visualising immanent risks of financial management decisions
  • Scope and importance of "The Flaw of Averages"-problem
  • Understanding and interpretation of current business ratios
  • Simulation examples, using the Software XLSim2.0, in the areas of return- and cash flow management, risk amangement, risk-return-management, interest management, foreign exchange management and case studies from selected fields
