Controlling


The major Controlling prepares students for the typical commerical duties of economic corporate management. The students get to know the theoretical concepts of controlling in detail by means of practical examples and case studies. In addition, the students deepen their understanding about the classical instruments of controlling and external accounting. The lectures are structured in three mandatory modules with four semester hours each and up to three mandatory electives.

Occupational Image and Chances on the Job Market

Potential job roles for graduates are in the management accounting and controlling of enterprises and SMEs in the industry, retail, banks as well as public institutions. Further opportunities for a job entry can be in the field of consulting and auditing.

The chances on the job market are very good due to the broad field of operation and the classical economic focus. Even in times of crisis, controller are demanded.

Module C3: International Reporting and Audit

  • International reporting and harmonisation of reporting
  • Accounting and valuation of selected balance sheet items accorindg to IFRS
  • Functions and instrument of a balance sheet analysis
  • Legal and economical basics of auditing
  • General instruments of chartered accountants

Elective Modules

  • Project seminar in one of the offered major modules
  • FW-elective courses, as for instance controlling with SAP, business planning, software-applications for controlling, planning- and control-systems
