Do I get my grades recognized?
Recognition of lectures attended abroad is the main condition for the student exchange. Ingolstadt University uses the standard European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) which has been successfully implemented across Europe. Therefore international students become credits of Ingolstadt University recognized by their home universities. At the same time, the recognition of credits from abroad for students of our university will succeed without difficulty. For more details, please read the course contents (curriculum) of the respective program of study.

The most important component of the recognition procedure is the learning agreement (LA). This is a study contract between you as a student, Ingolstadt University and the partner university from abroad. The learning agreement is a guarantee for the recognition of your international course achievements after your return to Ingolstadt University. Below you find a short description of the procedure. Read more on this under General Information.

• Choose your subjects according to the ECTS-Guide of your guest university (see its homepage). The learning agreement should cover a minimum of 20 credits.
• If you choose subjects that had not been recognized so far, please submit a course description in English and the examination regulations to your faculty representative who signs the learning agreement
• Learning agreements must be signed by the ECTS coordinator of your faculty and the academic coordinator at Ingolstadt University
• Please leave a copy of your learning agreement at the Career Service / International Office
• The original copy of the learning agreement must be signed at the guest university by the academic coordinator and the ECTS coordinator of the department

What happens in case of more applicants for a study place abroad?
The selection procedure takes into account the previous academic grades and, if necessary, the results of a selection interview in English. Present procedure is subject to modifications and amendments.

Are there any opportunities of financial support?
There are various possibilities of financial support, depending on the target country. The most common financial support in Europe is the Erasmus scholarship, besides the other financial support programs for stays abroad (e.g. DAAD, BAföG). You can find an overview of scholarship programs including application deadlines and requirements here.
