Wifi

The following wifi-networks are available:

  • campus-5 (until now "802.1x") 
    for members of the university; this network uses the fast 5GHz-Band. The usage of this network is recommended, if your device supports the 5Ghz-Band.
  • campus (until now "802.1x")
    for members of the university, whose device isn't 5GHz-compatible
  • public (until now "vpn" bzw. "guest")
    for visitors of the university or for members of the university to use the VPN-Client
  • eduroam
    for members of eduroam-related facilities

The networks differences and technical details:

campus / campus-5

[Translate to english:] The default wifi-network on the campus of the ingolstadt university is called campus. It's recommended to use this wifi-network for all-day work.

  • SSID campus-5: fast 5 GHz-Band (nähere Informationen)
  • SSID campus: 2,4 GHz-Band
  • Encryption: WPA2 Enterprise AES
  • Authentication: IEEE802.1x-Standard (PEAP – MSCHAPv2)
  • Username and Password = student's user credentials

public

The so called public wifi-network allows you to brows the internet- and intranetsites of the ingolstadt university without authentication. To browse the internet you have to authenticate wether using the Web-Interface or a VPN-Client.

eduroam

eduroam

Using the eduroam-wifi-network members of eduroam-realated facilities can use the wifi of the ingolstadt university using the user-account of their home-facility. Further Information on eduroam

  • SSID: eduroam
  • Encryption: WPA2 Enterprise AES
  • Authentification: IEEE802.1x-Standard (PEAP – MSCHAPv2)
  • Login using the user-credentials of the home-facility (e.g. mustermann@haw-ingolstadt.de)
