The information exchange between on-board safety systems and environment, vehicles (car-2-car) and infrastructure facilities (car-2-infrastructure) enables the development of sustainable solutions for the implementation of a comprehensive concept of vehicle safety. Some target functions are:
- collision avoidance through infrastructural assisted vehicle driving, which gets closer to the long-term vision of zero accidents;
- adaptive passive safety systems, which, unlike airbag systems, are capable of processing information about the expected severity of a crash long before the impact, optimizing the passenger protection.
